Is the Movement of Particles An Explanation for Everything?

With a very different approach, we are dealing with reductionist atheism of materialistic thinking, that is the thinking which considers the living beings as the coming together of elements by reducing the biology to physics and chemistry, which is expressed as “Something which is already existing cannot be destroyed into non-existence, and something which is not existing cannot be created”. This approach sees the creation of the universe just as the relocation of the existing particles, leaving the Creator out of consideration.
Let us begin by saying the following. By distorting this law, Materialistic Philosophy mispresented this issue. The scientific dimension of the matter is quite different.
This Law, which is developed by French chemist Antoine Laurent de Lavoisier, and known also as “The Law of Conservation of Matter or Mass”, states that “Within an closed system, whose borders are determined, the amount of mass will stay fixed whatever the processes or reactions take place.” In other words, in a closed system, the status of the mass could be changed but new mass cannot be created and the existing mass cannot be annihilated. It is obvious that the purpose of this law is to determine the relationships in relation to weight during the transformation/reaction of the matter. By using this Law as a pretext, it is not possible to deny the act of creation which is continuously going on in our universe and this fact is observed by our naked eyes.
In fact, the term “closed system” indicates that this principle is not valid under every condition. Nevertheless, in Europe and America, where the principles discovered by the chemist Lavoisier, who experimentally found out that “the existing matter can’t be annihilated and no matter can be created out of nothingness” are taught in schools, the related sections of some textbooks contain the expression “…but God”, meaning that exceptions are possible, because, there is nothing more natural than to think that the Creator who created the universe in accordance with the law of the conservation of mass, can also act outside the limits of this law. However, we see that in Turkish translations, this exception is not mentioned.
We observe that Sophists, who deny the existence of the universe and the philosophical views such as agnosticism which claims that the universe is unknowable, are not taken into account seriously and they are not emphasized. In fact, if we would not make deductions from the matter and objects we see around us, and then what can we take as a basis while making science? We just would like to touch upon a few points on these unfounded allegations.
First Point, (as mentioned in the Second Position of 21st Word of Risale-i Nur) is the principle that the probability which is not based on evidence has no value. As long as there is no conclusive evidence proving that the universe does not exist and that the apparent form of the universe that we sense with our senses eyes is so different that this changes and turns around the basic structure of the reality, then, all doubt in this regards will not be taken seriously.
The second point is related to Albert Einstein’s following words: “The most incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it is comprehensible”. This point gives us a proper perspective about the existence of the universe and the visible reality of the matter. If it were not so, it would not be possible either to understand and explain, with orderly principles, something which is not existing or which we could not comprehend correctly.
We take these words one step further and say that:
“The appearance of the universe in a comprehensible way for human beings is such a clear evidence of the fact that the reason for the existence of human beings is to understand the universe and man was sent to be a thoughtful addressee of the person who made the universe, that even the person with the simplest mind knows this in the depths of his heart and his mind and feel this reality with the deepest respect. Only some of them deny this great reality by turning a blind eye to it, by covering it up or by changing its shape and they betray themselves”
In the text of the Work (the Treatise of Nature-Risale-i Nur), it is stated that, those materialists who do not deny the existence of the universe, and who recognize, out of necessity, the difficulty, almost impossibility of attributing the miraculous formations taking place there, to material and natural causes, change their mind and this time choose to deny the creation out of nothingness. By this way, by accepting that the formation of the matter and objects is a result of the coming together and the dispersion of the particles, they form a basis for the thought that a creator is unnecessary. In this case, the orderly movement of the matter and objects and their systematic functioning is explained with laws of nature, that is, abstract principles, which are expressions of the course of action of the matter.
There is a specific point that we repeat from the very beginning of our explanations on Treatise of Nature:
The Laws of Nature are not objects with the material substance, which have the properties, capabilities to create themselves or other things. They could not be the source of anything or any event. They could not be the reason of any formation. They are nothing more than explanations of the working of a systematic event or formation. Otherwise, let alone the creation of the matter/objects or be a source for the movement of the matter and objects, these laws could not even explain their own essence or the reasons of their existence.
For example, we look at a valley from the top of a hill, and we see that every day at
18:00 and 20:00 a train passes by and this is repeated regularly.
Having observed that this is an event happening regularly without any interruption, we take note of the way this event happens, that is to say, the principle of the movement of the train, on our notebook and write down the following:
“A train passes through the valley every day at certain times. This event is continuously repeated without any interruption.”
Let us give a name, in our explanatory note, to this reality, the rule or the principle related to the time and the speed at which the train passes: “The law of Train’s Movement”
We wonder if this “Law of Train’s Movement” could come to life and have a material existence and then going back in time, could it become the conscious power making the train pass by at certain hours at a certain speed? And even, could it become the one who designs and creates this train? Could such an absurd idea be accepted as scientific thinking?
Here, we repeatedly manifest that: The laws of nature are also exactly like this. Just because you give a fancy name to a visible event or you have explained the principles of the formation of that event, your explanations could neither be the real cause creating that event or become a source of effect leading to that event.
Now we return back to our subject; we will have a look at how far away from the reality is the part, which says “Nothing can be created out of nothingness and nothing can be annihilated”, of the materialist philosophy , which claims that it has proved with scientific certainty that formations taking place in the nature are based on the mechanism of nature and that it explained the apparent situation of objects and the matter with coincidental movements of particles, which is composed of the activities of gathering and dispersion.
We wonder if the parts of this formation and design could be sufficient in explaining the regular shapes, livelihood, feeling and beauty that makes up these particles. How is it possible to explain the miraculous appearance of singular, complicated, regular, aesthetic material shapes and liveliness which is bejewelled with different feelings, all of a sudden and without any reason and the appearance of such formations in every corner of the world as it happens in the variety of the exhibition places and with the splendour of an official parade? What kind of an event is this?
How can the words of somebody, who, after having seen this amazing formation, could still say: “There is nothing created in the existing universe, the external intervention is also out of question. Everything that happens is the result of the formation of the mater/objects by the movements of particles, which takes places coincidentally or in accordance with the laws of nature.” be considered as scientific? How could this be an expression of the reality?
Indeed, especially a living formation is nothing other than the material appearance of a design whose plans, programs and measured shapes and non-material body are hidden behind a curtain, during the time of its passage to the field of matter. Such a Power and Will which can do such wonderful things over the matter and objects, for sure should be the One Who can create the matter out of nothing and both creating the matter out of nothing and annihilating it should be a simple thing to do.
In the text of the Work (the Treatise of Nature-Risale-i Nur), it is strikingly revealed that, those, who think that they could explain the formations of the matter/objects by reducing them to the movements of particles, conclude that “Matter cannot be created from nothingness and its existence cannot be annihilated” just because the material causes and the nature, which, they claim, created the matters, have no power to create anything from nothingness and to annihilate the existing matter and they also try to apply this rule for Allah, who indeed has limitless power.
As mentioned before, the line of thinking that can be called as “new-atheism, which is advocated by Stephen Hawking, goes one step further, walking in the darkness of the ignorance. The proponents of this view not only claim that “matter can’t be created from nothingness”, as also claimed by old materialists, but they also argue that the laws and theorems, which is in fact developed by them, created the universe out of nothingness.
In this thinking, which makes such a big mistake of categorization as replying with “M Theory” when asked about the origin of gravity, and which seems to forget that laws and theorems could not have the power to create and M Theory had not been seen around before the coming into existence of universe, we are asked to believe that something which was not existing, all of a sudden made itself come into existence due to an unknown reason and then it formed all visible matter.
We have already presented the remarkable points made on Stephen Hawking’s Book, “Grand Design” by Dr John Lennox, Mathematics Professor at Oxford University, giving also lectures on philosophy of science there, the author of the book entitled “Let’s keep it between you and me but there is God”, in the second one of five amazing calculations shown at the end of the conclusion section of our science-fiction story under the heading of “Grand Design and Theory of Everything”. We want to bring to your attention just one exemplary event, asking you to refer to this section for more details on this subject.
The Hawking’s words quoted from the epilogue of his book, “Grand Design” illustrate a striking and noteworthy example of how ignorant human beings, who see themselves as intelligent but insist on not accepting the existence of a creator, could be. These lines that Hawking wrote to thank people who have contributed to his book are as follows: “The universe has a design so does a book. But contrary to the universe, a book does not come out of nothingness. The book necessitates a creator and this job does not fall only on the shoulders of its author”
In response to this expression, we will only make a wish: “May Allah give common sense and show the true path!” and we are finishing this part by repeating the following words form Tenth Word of Risale-i Nur:
“A book, particularly one in each word of which a minute pen has inscribed another whole book, and in each letter of which a fine pen has traced a poem, cannot be without a writer; this would be entirely impossible. Neither can this cosmos be without its inscriber; this is impossible to the utmost degree. For the cosmos is precisely such a book that each of its pages includes many other books, each of its words contains a book, and each of its letters contains a poem. The face of the earth is but a single page in the book of the cosmos. See how many books it contains. Every fruit is a letter, and every seed is a dot. In that dot is contained the index of the whole tree in its vastness. A book such as this can have been inscribed only by the mighty pen of a Possessor of Glory Who enjoys the attributes of grandness, splendour and beauty, and Who is the holder of infinite wisdom and power. Faith, then, follows inevitably on the observation of the world, unless one is drunk on misguidance.”
Yes, one who sees and observes this universe, should accept the existence of Allah, unless, he is not aberrant from by getting drunk with denial. With this section we conclude the explanatory text of Treatise of Nature. We believe that, during our adventurous and exciting journey we have definitely witnessed that:
We have precisely witnessed that the most fundamental humane duty of a person, the thing that he must primarily try to achieve and the most valuable knowledge that makes a human being a real human being is the knowledge of faith and that this knowledge is the most essential knowledge, the shah and the sultan of all knowledge and sciences and that if the knowledge of faith is missing, the highest level of intelligence and worldly knowledge would not mean anything other than a darkness of ignorance. May Allah open the hearts and minds of all of us to the highest reality of all realities, which is the truth of faith and may He never separate us from this spiritual treasure and grant us the opportunity to benefit from this blessing forever.
